Traditional 4-H Clubs

  • Crafty Clovers 4-H Club: Members will unleash their creativity with engaging, hands-on arts and crafts experiences!

  • Scuppernong Sprouts 4-H Club: This club marks the beginning of our youngest members’ 4-H journey. They’ll discover what it means to be part of 4-H, learn how to run a meeting, and participate in citizenship activities—all while embracing the spirit of “learning by doing!”

  • Fowl Play 4-H Club: This club will introduce youth to the 4-H program while providing hands-on learning experiences in poultry production. Members will explore topics such as egg quality, the differences between layers and broilers, and we'll discuss showing turkeys at the NC State Fair.

  • Growing Clovers 4-H Club: Through participation in this club, members will strengthen their meeting management skills while taking on more advanced opportunities in leadership, citizenship, and community service.

  • Herd That 4-H Club: This club is ideal for young people interested in show animals. Members will learn how to select, manage, and care for their animals while honing their showmanship skills.

    • Location/Times: Third Tuesday of the month; 6:30-7:30 pm @ Extension Office.

  • Scuppernong Sportsmen 4-H Club: This club covers all things hunting and fishing! Members will take part in hunter and boating safety, as well as activities in fishing, hunting, shooting sports, and plant and animal identification.

    • Location/Times: First Thursday of the month; 7:00-8:00 pm @ Extension Office. *Some activities may be hosted on Saturdays.

  • 4-H Teen Council: This club plays an active role in planning and conducting county 4-H events. Through meetings, committee work, and other activities, the council engages youth in the leadership and direction of the 4-H program.
    • Meeting Date(s): May 26, 2026

    • Ages: 13-18
    • Location/Times: Last Tuesday of the month; 3:45-3:45 pm @ Extension Office.

*Dates, locations, and times may change based on club leaders’ availability. Leaders will notify club members promptly of any updates.

*Clubs meeting at 4:00 PM are scheduled as after-school meetings so members can take the bus and be dropped off at the Extension Office. Pick-up is required by 5:15 PM.

SPIN Clubs

SPIN (Special Interest) Clubs are shorter, focused versions of our traditional clubs. They meet weekly for six weeks and concentrate on a specific topic, with meetings centered on hands-on activities rather than parliamentary procedures.

  • The Mad Scientists 4‑H Club: This club focuses on the 4-H Electric Program. The 4-H Electric Congress, an elite event sponsored by North Carolina power companies, introduces youth to the field of electricity. The club prepares members to participate in this event and develop related skills and knowledge. For more information, visit the 4-H Electric Program.

Registering in 4-HOnline

If you don’t already have a 4-HOnline profile, you’ll need to create one first. This is required for your child to participate in 4‑H. For guidance on setting up a profile, please visit our 4-HOnline 2.0 - Resources and Tools for Members, Volunteers, and Families.”

Starting 4-H Club!

We welcome the creation of additional clubs in Tyrrell County! Each club requires at least five youth from three different families and two dedicated adult volunteers. Please review the Club Leader Role Description. Clubs can explore a wide range of topics, including science, livestock, service projects, robotics, art, and more.
