Wake County will be hosting this year’s District Teen Retreat. This is for all teens 13+ as of January 1, 2017. Please fill out a registration form and return it along with your check (made payable to Tyrrell County 4-H), and waiver by Friday, February 10th. **Scholarships are available for those who do a Presentation and/or STEM Fair.**

Cost is $100 per person for the entire event, including lodging. Participants will need to bring extra money for dinner Friday and for lunch on Saturday/Sunday. On Friday night, there will be Pizza at Galaxy, but we may want to eat or snack before 8PM on the way to Raleigh. There is no separate day-only registration.

You will also need to complete an online waiver for the Galaxy Fun Park and return it with your application found here: https://galaxyfunpark.pfestore.com/waiver/

Tracks

On Saturday, the group will divide up into tracks to learn about different college and career opportunities. Please indicate which track you would like on your registration form. Everyone from our county will stay as a group, I will choose a track based on the most popular track requested.

1. Leadership There are many types of leaders in our county and state, and some of these are in charge of helping our communities prepare for (and possibly avoid) disasters. Emergency management leaders in NC plan for all imaginable scenarios and find ways to keep us safe (think antiterrorism, HAZMAT, etc.). Come and learn how these leaders serve, plan and protect.

2. Civics and Legal Downtown Raleigh is a hub for all things civic engagement. Visit Campbell Law School in downtown Raleigh and talk with current students and some graduates about legal careers. Tour the State Capital and take a stroll around the block to see where the NC Supreme Court and Court of Appeals are located.

3. Community Service and Outreach Activate Good is a non-profit started by young adults in Raleigh who wanted to connect people who wanted to serve with opportunities to serve the community. Learn how the made an idea into an organization that is having a big impact in our community. The crew at Activate Good is young and is passionate about their work and will do great job inspiring 4-H’ers!

4. Workforce Development Health science fields are growing in our area. Come and explore the health sciences fields, find out what degrees you will need, and tour some real-world workplaces.
